Locals Only Extra: Video of the Yeastie Boys Rockin' the Doll Hut

yeasties.jpg
This week, we decided to fill our Locals Only column with a bunch of clowns. Yes, clowns. But not for the record, they happen to be foul-mouthed, beer-chugging, middle-finger-waiving, pie-throwing punk rock clowns.

Video: The Relative Strangers--Meet the Band!

In case you haven't already taken a gander at Danielle Bacher's Locals Only piece featuring the Relative Strangers, be sure to do that. Their tales of unusual pre-show rituals--slapping each other and doing the Running Man on stage--will make it worth your while.

Rock Bottom Perform at 420 Freestyle Rap Session on KUCI

It's not uncommon for a sufficiently skilled hip-hop crew to nudge their way onto college radio and spit a couple verses over the airwaves. But this video of San Clemente/Laguna Nigel rap trio Rock Bottom (featured in last week's Locals Only column) let's us know that the group's crazy-off-the-cuff skills are on a whole different level.

After the jump: Check out Part 2 of this fierce freestyle session.

Video: "Fashion Show" by LMNO & Yann Kesz Feat. JFK of Grayskul

Few local acts know how to put together a good music video on a shoestring budget quite like LMNO and the crew of Long Beach hip-hop label Up Above Records. Last month, they fired one out for "Faith is Fact"--from the 2009 album Devilish Dandruff with Holy Shampooa collaboration between LMNO and French producer Yann Kesz.

Last week, this sage MC released video for another single off the album, "Fashion Show," featuring JFK of Seattle rap duo Grayskul. It features sinfully hilarious footage of models falling on their asses.

Local Video of the Week: Stereofix at Detroit Bar, Costa Mesa

Seeing Stereofix, featured in this week's Local's Only section, is like watching an instructional video on how to be a rock star. During their current residency at Detroit Bar, this Fountain Valley four-piece have managed to put some arena-rock flair into this local haunt with a fabulous dose of fog and lasers. Check out this recent video of the band performing "I'm Coming Home," a U2-esque track that the people in front on the audience really seem to be enjoying (hence the emphatic "Thank you!" from some guy in the crowd at the end of the song). Having seen Stereofix perform, it's easy to say that vocalist Ray Alexander, guitarist Kamren Alexander, bassist Mark Allan and drummer Anthony Hainsworth are all about scoring showmanship points. Including tonight, the band has two more, free, Monday night residency shows before the end of the month. The last show is Dec. 28.

Local Video of the Week: OC's Pop Noir Offers Cool Cover of 'Little Drummer Boy'

Orange County dance-rock standouts Pop Noir, which I wrote about pretty extensively here, have posted an extremely fun and innovative take on the holiday standard "Little Drummer Boy." Singer/bassist/keyboardist Luke McGarry and his twin brother, guitarist Joe McGarry, costar in the charmingly old-school clip.

Luke says:

Happy Christmas from Pop Noir!
Here's our "Adam Ant meets Bing Crosby" musical Yuletide greeting and
suitably absurd video.

Thanks guys!
