Free Crap That Came In The Mail: The Inevitable Backlash, 'My Two Brookes'

Wednesday, Jan. 7 2009 @ 11:31AM
First, a caveat: It's really not fair for me to call this crap. It might be very good, in fact. I haven't listened to it yet. The album art is certainly endearing.

What is crappy, though, is the obvious miscommunication on the part of the band's label, LA's Hegemony Records.

In this day and age, sending one record through the mail isn't exactly the greatest of ideas--especially when a download link and high-res jpeg of album art could suffice--but five? Really?

In this crumbling economy and ecologically minded culture, it seems like a bit of a waste to send five CDs to just one paper, right? Sure, they were all addressed to different people--myself and a bunch of other fellows who haven't worked here in years--but they all went to the same place. Each one had four 42-cent stamps on them, bringing their postage grand total to $8.40. And they're in LA!

That said, I won't hold this against The Inevitable Backlash, though in light of recent events that name does sound somewhat appropriate. I wasn't even going to write anything about this after the four of them came in yesterday, but when the fifth one was in my box this morning, I knew I had to speak up. I'm on your side, Hegemony Records! I just want to save you on some postage and CDs and such.
