UPDATE, AUGUST 11, 2011, 1:03 P.M.: Within a matter of seconds, not even a minute, the tickets to the Green Day show sold out. Bummer! But don't feel bad if you didn't get a ticket, you're not alone. Many fans are upset too, and they're venting their anger on the band's Facebook page. "This was bullshit," Westminster resident and Green Day fan Zach Hammill wrote commented on the last status uptdate. "As a long time SoCal fan, I'm pretty upset. I was on top of that. I was refreshing my page every .0001 seconds. As soon as the button appeared, I clicked it, put in the code, and still got screwed. I type 74 words per minute."

Those who were lucky enough to purchase tickets are commenting on Facebook too. Fan Anthony Estrada said, "The bar can hold 250 people. Around 75-100 tickets were given already to people associated with the band. So for the fans, it was only 150 tickets left, and since there is a 2 ticket maximum, that's only 75 people that got in. ... And I was one of them."

Dance Pick Of The Week: Doc Martin At Focus

It's a little strange to sense all the buzz surrounding Europe's new dark wave of dance floor sounds, which combine tribal drums with deep, chugging bass and a simmering sense of bacchanalia. The likes of Loco Dice, Sven Vath, Dubfire and Radio Slave have been churning out this latest club-land flavor, which lies somewhere between minimal techno and dubby house music. But it's been done before.

The doctor is in the house.

Rewind to the mid-1990s and behold one Southern California native Doc Martin, who was rinsing out evil, "druggy" house for the after-after-hours underground. Dry, loopy tracks would declare "New York-London-Amsterdam" ad nauseum; or a song would state, "It's dark in here ... it's wet in here ... it's deep in here ... I like it here." Even before DJ's DJ Danny Tenaglia was declared the king of the "twisted" sound, Mr. Martin was tweaking bodies and minds.

A DJ hero who has been at it since the late 1980s, Doc has never been a flavor of the moment. He's always been his own man, anchoring his strictly underground Sublevel events while jetting off ocassionally to headline the world's greatest superclubs. (London's Fabric is a frequent destination). Check out Doc's timeless, bottom-heavy grooves Tuesday at Focus.

Focus presents Doc Martin Tuesday at Tapas, 4253 Martingale Way, Newport Beach. 18+. Tickets $8 in advance. Doors at 9:30. Info: focus-oc.com.

Sutra Unleashes New 'Howlin' Ween' Supper Burlesque Show

Some clubs just can't wait for Halloween. The chance to cash in on sexy angel/devil themed parties can be awfully tempting (emphasis on "awful"). Luckily, a greater ratio of local night spots who eagerly anticipate October 31 actually manage to do the creepy holiday some justice. That's what we're hoping for in the case of Sutra's new supper club's spooky burlesque showcase "Howlin' Ween." OK, setting that abundantly creative title aside, this actually sounds like a rousing night of sex, stabbings and sirloin steaks.
