Pacific Festival: The Dunes
Newport Dunes
Break out your hottest swimsuit and slather on the sunscreen because Pacific Festival is back again to bring you the ultimate day party. Dubbed simply The Dunes, this year's music festival features a non-stop lineup of live music, including sets from Holy Ghost, Plastic Plates with Sam Sparro, Miami Horror, Moon Boots, Cherry Glazzerr, De Lux, Painted Palms, Goddollars and many more. Several food trucks are scheduled to roll in, slinging tasty dishes, but make sure to stop by Dos Chinos for some latin asian fusion tacos. Pre-sale tickets have already sold out, so get online and secure our passes as soon as possible--or splurge for VIP and relax in a private gazebo sipping a cocktail from the full bar. You know what they say about West Coast parties... (Erin DeWitt)

Giorgio Moroder
The Observatory
Let's hold a candle to one of the original pioneers of electronic dance music, Mr. Giorgio Moroder. This OG record producer and DJ is best known for helping a generation of listeners envision the future of music with his elaborate synthesizers, most specifically with the queen of disco, Donna Summer. Since then he's crafted a career of artistic collaborations, like last year's collab with Daft Punk, and film scores, like Midnight Express and Scarface. Now Moroder takes to DJ'ing around the world, like tonight at the post-Pacific Fest show at the Observatory. Who knows where EDM would be today without his influence? (Aimee Murillo)

The Weary Boys
Alex's Bar
As much crap as cynical people talk about reunion tours, there's something special about a band who never quite got the spotlight they deserved coming back around to give it another go. Raucous string band the Weary Boys earned cult like status in the Austin after moving there from NorCal in the early '00s. Touring the country in a van and releasing a slew of records slowly took it's toll before they disbanded in 2007. But this weekend the members will assemble on stage for their first run of California shows in seven years, including Saturday night at Alex's Bar. They'll be joined by special guests The Good Luck Thrift Store Outlet, our local faves and OC Music Award winners The Moonsville Collective and Tom Vandenavond. (Nate Jackson)
