Would the members of Devo please stop dying? First it was drummer Alan Myers, who died June 24, and today we learn of guitarist Bob "Bob 2" Casale's passing at age 61.

Casale's brother Jerry -- also a member of Devo -- posted this on the group's website: "As an original member of Devo, Bob Casale was there in the trenches with me from the beginning. He was my level-headed brother, a solid performer and talented audio engineer, always giving more than he got. He was excited about the possibility of Mark Mothersbaugh allowing Devo to play shows again. His sudden death from conditions that lead to heart failure came as a total shock to us all."

Spudboys and spudgirls always have Devo in heavy rotation, but for those who don't (and what's wrong with you if you don't?), here's a list of five Devo songs you should know that aren't "Whip It."

One more thing...rest in peace Bob Casale and thanks for the good times.

5. Don't Shoot (I'm a Man)
A supposed one-hit wonder releases a new album after 20 years and the first single is as good as anything they've ever done? That just doesn't happen. Except it did.

4. Blockhead
Devo writes pop songs in odd time signatures. Do you know how difficult that is to do?

3. Girl U Want
I'll go to my grave saying "Girl U Want" is the most underrated love song ever. Then again, this is Devo, which means "Girl U Want" could very easily be a metaphor for something that has nothing to do with love. Either way, it's a killer tune.

6. "Through Being Cool"...it was so awesome to hear it in the movie "Heavy Metal".

7. "Beautiful World"...for its masterful sarcasm.

8. "Jocko Homo"...are we not men? WE ARE DEVO!

Farewell, Bob2 :-(

Devo was blown off as a fad, but their rhythms & rhymes are timeless, and their sardonic wit & irreverence is even more applicable today than it was in the 70s & 80s. RIP Bob2, your music has made you immortal.
