Reverend Horton Heat (Night 1)
The Observatory
On the surface, inking with Chicago's Victory Records seemed like a curious decision for the veteran Texas-based outfit--but since when has Jim Heath done anything conventionally? Heath and his revolving cast of musicians are going against the grain and touring ahead of the release of their forthcoming album, Rev, their 11th record. Dropping in January, this is the band's first batch of original material since 2009's Laughin' & Cryin' with the Reverend Horton Heat. Even with the lengthy gap between albums, the group maintains its vigor for playing live and their ability to put on a spellbinding show. And it's just those elements that made the group one of the baddest and most iconic names in psychobilly to emerge over the last two decades. (Daniel Kohn)

Dengue Fever
Detroit Bar
Dengue Fever beautifully channel the sounds of the 1960s- spy movies, Bollywood, and surf rock through Khmer vocals, electric guitar and a psychedelic organ, among other ingredients. Similarly far out and reminiscent of the Asian pop of yesteryear, Dengue Fever was born out of a trip to Cambodia for member Ethan Holtzman and an actual case of dengue fever he caught while there. He also caught a bug for the sound of '60s-era Cambodian rock, which he brought back to form his new band in his native Silverlake. Uniquely arranged for modern ears, Dengue Fever's music brings a contemporary twist on a classic era in rock n' roll, and perform tonight at Detroit Bar with The Holloys and GhostCore. Look Daggers
Alex's Bar
A winning combination exists between larger than life Of Mexican Descent poet 2Mex and Mars Volta keyboardist Ikey Owens- and that combination goes by the name Look Daggers. Combining 2Mex's flair for rhymes and charisma along with Ikey's indie rock influence, the two enlisted fellow musicians Mendee Ichikawa, Jesse Wilder, Chris Clawson and Travis Laws to create their hip hop-flavored grooves with an alt-rock vigor. Formed in Long Beach, Look Daggers return to the city of their birthplace, home to other brilliant rock acts. Tonight they play Alex's Bar along with Mel Ziah Dia and Nice Guy X Vinny.
