There's something about summertime that puts the folks over here at
Heard Mentality in a really giving mood. And since few things go together like warm weather and free music, we're offering
OC Weekly readers a brand new loud, local concert series called
Plugged Into Local-- filled with the best bands this county has to offer.
Starting on Wednesday July 25, Heard Mentality launches this free, monthly band showcase that will be popping up at bars, clubs and other venues all over OC. The first installment features OC punk's diabolical heavy-hitter
Jack Grisham (of
T.S.O.L. fame) tearing up the stage with his new band
The Manic Low at the
Constellation Room in
Santa Ana. Having just released their debut album
Songs For An Up Day on
Moonlight Graham Records, the
Huntington Beach trio fuses some shimmering, 60s-tinged good-time energy with Grisham's trademark punk delivery, immortal energy and a slice of pop energy for good measure. And you'll be the first to see since it's their first show before their U.S. tour. The show is free and RSVP only, find out all the details after the jump!
The show also sports an in-your-face undercard featuring two
Fullerton acts, punk rock stalwarts
Sederra and the searing,
Warped Tour-tested alt rock of
Neo Geo. Aside from offering up a one of our local music legends at one of OC's best live music venues, we're also looking forward to seeing a packed out audience at the Constellation Room experience several different pedigrees of punk on one stage. Did we mention it's free?
All you have to do to get in is RSVP at PIL's web page and we'll get you on the list. Space is limited so get on this ASAP! Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9p.m. with Neo Geo followed by Sederra and headliners the Manic Low.
