Today would have been iconic children's book author Dr. Seuss's 108th birthday (had he survived that long). Over the years, the author formerly known as Theodor Geisel had a lasting impact on people of all ages. His books have inspired a variety of things ranging from films to Broadway plays to television shows to toys to music. Believe it or not, country sweetheart Taylor Swift has attributed Seuss's influence to her songwriting.

It may seem far-fetched, however, one could argue that the author could be considered the William Shakespeare of children's books. With iconic works like The Cat In The Hat, The Grinch Stole Christmas, Green Eggs and Ham, Horton Hears a Ho! And most recently The Lorax, the Massachusetts-native's impact on pop culture can't be understated. His books that addressed morals resonated with his readers, regardless of their race, creed or sex.

In honor of his birthday, here's a funny YouTube video we stumbled across. It has Dr. Seuss vs. Shakespeare in a mock rap battle. Enjoy.
