This week's cover story follows the journey of UC Irvine's Kaba Modern, which paved the way for the collegiate hip-hop dance-crew circuit and celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

The crew is gearing up for VIBE, one of the biggest and most prestigious hip-hop dance-crew competitions on the West Coast, which takes place on Jan. 29 at UCI's Bren Events Center.
