Etta James Dies at 73 of Leukemia Complications; Five Essential Recordings

CNN reports that Etta James has died from leukemia complications in Riverside. She was 73. The singer, known for her definitive rendition of  "At Last," was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010. She had been battling Alzheimer's disease for a few years, and also had hepatitis C.

Her husband, Artis Millsm and her sons were by her side at the time of her death, said longtime manager Lupe De Leon.

The singer known as "Miss Peaches" was born in Los Angles.  She has won six Grammys and was voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
