[UPDATE: 1/12/2010 2:50 PM] Sergent Phil Meyers, Costa Mesa Police Department's Public Information Officer, told the Weekly no burglaries have been reported at the LAB this month.

Creme Tangerine, one of Orange County's quirkier (if not the quirkiest) record stores, was broken into on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, sometime after it closed. The thieves stole all of the cash and broke a window and a turntable. It is not yet clear if any records were stolen, but the perpetrators did not take a MacBook that was left out.

The Weekly put out a call to the Costa Mesa Police Department for comment; check back for more information as it develops.

Creme Tangerine is owned by local musicians Parker Macy and Jonathan Staph. It is a vinyl and cassette store at the LAB in Costa Mesa that operates out of a turquoise, vintage trailer. It opened its doors in early 2011.
