The 10 Worst Music Videos of 2011

We're on the fence about Katy Perry in "E.T."
Every year, the MTV Video Music Awards give the best music videos of the year with a statuette. But personally, we think its way more fun to laugh at the stupid ones. So this year, for your amusement, Heard Mentality will recognize the worst music videos made in 2011 (gold statuettes are, unfortunately, not included).

10. The One That's So Bad, it's Almost Good
"Need You Now" -- Cut Copy
We really don't get what the M.O. was meant to be with this video -- it starts off as an incredibly cheesy Nike commercial that converts to a gladiator-esque fight, all of which doesn't even remotely relate back to the song's lyrics. We're giving the Aussie boys the benefit of the doubt and assuming they purposefully aimed for the campy, sporty effect -- making the video so out of character that it's funny. As one YouTube commenter accurately put it, "This is what would happen if they ever shut down World of Warcraft."

9. The Boring One
"Love On Top" -- Beyonce
We love three solid minutes of staring at Beyonce as much as the next guy, but couldn't they  at least have put her in something skimpier to keep us entertained?

8. The Too-Violent One
"Ruffneck" -- Skrillex
First he killed music, then he beat Santa. We're all for changing up videos from the standard Taio Cruz skimpy-girls-on-cars fare, but wailing on Santa is crossing a line -- no one wants to watch a beloved, benevolent childhood figure suddenly turn violent. Apparently, we aren't ready for the ruffneck bass.
