Guitar Shaped Jimi Hendrix Memorial Park to Open in Seattle Next Year

Categories: cool shit
If you're the kind of person who loves public parks and famous musicians who died at 27 of drug-related causes, Washington is about to become your favorite tourist destination.

The Jimi Hendrix Park is set to open in Seattle in 2012, the year the legendary guitarist would have turned 70.

The park will be shaped like a guitar and will contain "lyrical stepping stones, rain drums, a sculpted butterfly garden, performance area, sound garden and a green space," as well as a fretboard-shaped bridge.

Check out the plan below:

Hendrix died at age 27 in 1970 in London.

This is one of the most original honors any musician could receive! Go Seattle! Jimi invented Metal and everything Rock knows about the guitar after 1970 came from his psychedelic twisting of what the instrument could do.  I paid homage to Hendrix with a portrait called Purple Haze on the anniversary of his passing recently.  You can see it at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot... and tell me how the voodoo child’s music has influenced you!
