3hree Things: Songs That Seem Apropos For Today

Watch out for 3hree Things every Tuesday, in which Riley Breckenridge, drummer of Orange County's favorite local alt-rock band Thrice, gives his take on life in Southern California as an OC native.

In light of the news that we (Thrice) recently announced, I figured this week would probably be as good a week as any to take a breather from the usual ranting and raving here and post some tunes that seem apropos for a break, a break up, or a hiatus. These are classics, and I'm sure you've all heard them hundreds of times, but music has the power to make situations that are a bummer in many ways not seem like such a bummer. They're helping me anyway.

This is not the time or place for any statements of mine regarding the announcement, but the Beatles probably said it best: "Life Goes On." Here's to closing one book (or perhaps just putting it on the shelf for a bit), and starting a new one.

I'll be back at full strength next week. Thanks for your understanding. And, as always, thanks for reading.

1. Bob Dylan, "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right"

2. The Beatles, "Yesterday"

3. The Beatles, "Obla Di Obla Da"
