Dengue Fever Going Back to Southeast Asia to Tour for the Third Time

​Dengue Fever is going back to Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam in November on the "Electric Mekong Tour" with the cooperation and support of the U.S. Department of State, U.S. embassies in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam and local promoter in Cambodia, Dickon Verey. The band received the Arts Envoy grant, designed to share American culture around the world. It will be the band's first trip to Laos.

The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the U.S. Department of State said in a statement, "Sharing American art and culture is one of the best ways to build bridges between the United States and other countries. Dengue Fever's dynamic performances reviving 1960's Cambodian rock provide a strong cultural link between the U.S. and Southeast Asia."

"Obviously, the band's roots are in Khmer rock, so there is an immediate connection to our fans in Cambodia. But getting the opportunity to perform in Vietnam for the second time and to debut in Laos really makes us aware of just how far we've come and where we want to go with this band," guitarist Zac Holtzman says.

In other news, Dengue Fever will launch their own record label and online store late 2011 to release their long out-of-print back catalog with additional bonus tracks and new merchandise for fans. Possibly some live "Sni Bong" in there?
