As part of the Día de los Muertos art exhibit being held at Calacas this Saturday, the documentary short Noche de Altares: A Santa Ana Grassroots Festival will premiere on a projector screen outside the store.

The bilingual community film offers a cinematic portrait of the city's annual Día de los Muertos celebration held the first Saturday in November honoring the centuries-old Mexican tradition. It is produced by Carla Zarate of SolArt Gallery & Design. (Read OC Latino Link's recent SolArt profile by Stephanie Rivera here.)

Noche de Altares will be shown continuously throughout the art event, from 7 to 10 p.m. DVDs will also be made available starting Saturday for $5 at the store to help raise funds for this year's event, organized by El Centro Cultural de México and Calacas. It will take place on Nov. 5th on the corner of Fourth and Birch in Santa Ana.

Calacas is located at 324 W. Fourth St., Ste. B, Santa Ana.
