It's Pink Floyd Week on Jimmy Fallon

More than any other reissue of collectors' box sets and unreleased music, Pink Floyd's campaign with EMI, Why Pink Floyd? is being presented with the most hoopla. The campaign launches tomorrow, also with unreleased music from the archives and complete studio recordings remastered. How is EMI celebrating?

First, they've commissioned Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to devote each day this week to Pink Floyd. The Shins, Foo Fighters, MGMT, Dierks Bentley and Pearl Jam are all covering a classic Floyd song each.

The Shins will make their first TV appearance in four years when they perform "Breathe," from The Dark Side of the Moon today. On Tuesday, Roger Waters will perform "In the Flesh," from The Wall album with the Foo Fighters.

On Wednesday, MGMT will perform "Lucifer Sam" from Pink Floyd's 1967 debut album, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. Thursday, country music artist Dierks Bentley will sing "Wish You Were Here" from Pink Floyd's album of the same name. On Friday, Pearl Jam will perform "Mother," from The Wall

On Tuesday, EMI will release of the band's 14 remastered studio albums, a boxed 16 CD Discovery collection of the albums and two expanded editions of The Dark Side of the Moon, including a 6-disc boxed set with extensive previously unreleased audio and video content. On November 8, Wish You Were Here will also be released in two expanded editions, as well as a new collection, A Foot In The Door - The Best Of Pink Floyd. The campaign will continue with the February 28, 2012 release of The Wall in two expanded editions.
