Mehdi Favéris-Essadi, known to the world as DJ Mehdi, has passed away. The 34-year-old DJ and producer collaborated with Daft Punk and Chromeo. There are no words to tell you the sorrow which I feel... A friend goes from there... Rest in peace bro."

Drake tweeted, "Damn...RIP MEHDI." Chromeo wrote: "We lost our brother. No words."

Paris Social Club posted the following message to their Facebook page: "Following the death of DJ Mehdi, we have made the exceptional decision to close the club tonight. An evening of silence in honor of the artist. Thank you for not commenting on this status."

DJ Mehdi first gained notice in his work on in France's hip hop scene, and signed with French electro label Ed Banger Records. Aside from Daft Punk and Chromeo, he collaborated with a number of big names, including MC Solarr, Cassius and Carol King. Check out Medhi's collaboration with Chromeo on "I Am Somebody" in 2006.
