Comic book publisher and Morrissey fan Shawn Demumbrum is working on a Smiths-inspired comic book series, called Unite and Take Over: Comic Book Stories Inspired by The Smiths. He wrangled indie comics vets Christian Vilaire, Henry Barajas, Jeff Pina, Shelby Robertson, and others for 78 pages' worth of comic strips, asking them to go off on from one question: What story plays in your head when you listen to your favorite Smiths song? Demumbrum says the song acts as an inspiration, jumping off point, theme or mood for the story.   The project already has 13 scripts approved, and the book will have 74 pages of illustrated stories.  There's a Kickstarter site where you can help with the costs to print the book, license the print rights for lyrics use, purchase an ISBN barcode for the project, set to launch at  Tucson Comic-con in November.

Here are the songs turned into comics:
Death at One's Elbow - Glen Curren and Madame M

Shoplifters of the World Unite - Shawn Demumbrum and Matt Goodall
Rubber Ring - Dennmann
Girlfriend in a Coma - JP Manzanares
Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before - Henry Barajas and Christian Vilaire
Cemetry Gates - Libbi Rich and Mickey Chaney
That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore - Emily Rich and Jenn Fuguet
How Soon is Now? - Foo! and Sam Lagreen
Pretty Girls Make Graves - Thomas Healy and Justin Miller
Panic - Matthew Burke and Joshua Green
What Difference Does It Make? - Michael Kessler and Jeff Pina
Handsome Devil - Shelby Robertson
Suffer Little Children - John Chibak

I think it's pretty interesting; check out Demumbrum's vid.
