UPDATE, 12:23 A.M., AUGUST 11, 2011: Due to overwhelming demand, Green Day is being forced to do a pre-sale for the show. We have the exclusive on how to score yer tickets to Green Day at the Tiki Bar here.

UPDATE, 10:14 A.M., AUGUST 10, 2011: We hear that Green Day will be playing Thursday (that's tomorrow, by the way--are you in line yet?) without their backing band--and to expect a set list rife with "old stuff."

This Thursday, August 11, doors will open at 8 p.m. at the Tiki Bar in Costa Mesa (1700 Placentia).

Tickets will be $20 (cash only!) at the door, and all proceeds will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

And the announcement is quick to add: NO PRESALE, STRICT NO CAMERA, NO CELL PHONE POLICY. 21+.

Good luck getting in, friends! Line up early!

Green Day/Costa Mesa story from back in the day: as the band was blowing up, OC Weekly music writer Jennifer Vineyard interviewed Billie Joe on the phone before an OC show. He asked her to name a good independent record store here, and she answered Dave James' now-late, great Noise Noise Noise in CM. On stage later, Billie Joe told the crowd he always pops into Noise Noise Noise when he's in town.

What Surprise? Green Day and their publicist tweeted the event! We got the e-mail and posted this within minutes. Good luck getting in!

This is a seriously BAD idea... This venue is WAY too small to host a band this big without a presale... and the "secret" is all over Twitter.... Green Day is a trending topic...

I'm thinking this is gonna get ugly... fast.

If they wanted to raise money for Charity... Galaxy Theater may have been a better idea...

How many people does this venue hold??

I haven't been inside in YEARS but it's tiny.... about 3,700 sq ft... based on the aerial shot from Google Maps.

I'd say 300 people is pushing it.

I don't know the exact amount it holds, I've only been there a few times. But it is very small, just a little bar. If it's totally packed, I'd say 300 to 400 probably at the most. Just a guess.
