This year, Metallica is celebrating its 30th anniversary. (Apparently, there will be a week-long celebration in San Francisco this December.) Rage Against the Machine and Pearl Jam are 20 years old this year too. No Doubt is 25. After the jump, watch clips of these bands from their early, awkward days. God, we're old.
Metallica- Formed in 1981 in LA, the band got a cult following from their debut,  Kill Em All. Dave Mustaine's in half these pics!

No Doubt- Formed in Anaheim in 1986, this clip from 1987 at a Long Beach venue shows Eric Stefani, Gwen's brother who left the show to illustrate for the Simpsons, still in the band.

Pearl Jam-Technically formed in 1990, but say they're celebrating their 20th anniversary this year (Check out this contest to be part of their anniversary show in Wisconsin this September.) Here's footage from 1990, with Eddie Vedder all nervous.

Rage Against the Machine-You can watch Tom Morello reminisce about their early days here, back when the band felt like they would never get airplay--or that people wouldn't get their music in the time of grunge. And yes, they formed 20 years ago this year. Crazy.
