Two Deaths in a Year; Is Electric Daisy Carnival Cursed?

After the death of a 15-year-old girl at the Electric Daisy Carnival in LA and the news that a 19-year-old man died after attending the sold-out rave party in Dallas (with another concert-goer in critical condition) we have to wonder: is the Electric Daisy Carnival cursed or are ravers getting stupider?

The 15-year-old in LA died from an Ecstasy overdose, and in Dallas, about 25 to 30 other people were treated for heat, drug and alcohol-related problems.

The cause of death in Dallas was not immediately released. This year, the event turned into a traveling show, allegedly because it couldn't get a permit to hold the event in LA again.
The LA event drew more than 180,000 people over two days; Moby, Deadmau5, Basement Jaxx, Swedish House Mafia and the Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am, performed, among many others.  Over the two days, 226 injuries were reported, 114 of which required attention at hospitals.

Pasquale Rotella, the chief executive of Insomniac Events, which promotes the festival, expressed condolences in a statement, saying: "To go from a moment of happiness and enjoyment, to the loss of life, is very heartbreaking."

Personally, I don't think deaths are the organizers' fault; ultimately, the only lesson you can take from all this is to not do drugs--especially if going to a crowded rave.

EDC is far from cursed. If you have 300,000 people in one condensed area in a hot climate, and the majority of which choose to do drugs, there is a high possibility of something going wrong. Insomniac events and Pasquale Rotella do a damn good job acknowledging  these factors  and do their best to avoid these unfortunate situations and health risks by providing free water and calm hang out zones. I believe it is the personal responsibility of the drug takers to take care of themselves and none of this should be put on the event itself.

"is the Electric Daisy Carnival cursed or are ravers getting stupider?" i'd re-think that statement.

It's about as cursed as the empty apartment in Huntington Beach where two teens were found dead a couple months back, after overdosing on heroin/methadone/whatever. Or as cursed as Serrano street, in Anaheim Hills, where my buddy died in a drunk driving crash. Cursed, I say!!!!!

This is a culture that attracts a lot of  young people who like to take Ecstasy and dance for hours.  This means you will have a lot of people making poor choices, ODs and above average number of deaths.
