Robert Pattinson Playing OC Native Jeff Buckley in Biopic?

Deadline.com announced that the forthcoming biopic about OC native Jeff Buckley, singer/songwriter who drowned in Tennessee in 1997, now has a director. Welcome To The Rileys filmmaker Jake Scott will direct the Buckley film with a script by Ryan Jaffe.

The film is as-yet-untitled, but Buckley's mother Mary Guibert is an executive producer for the film. A few months ago, Guibert talked about the likelihood of Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson playing her son, saying, "Robert is a fine young actor. I'm flattered he's been linked to this project. When the time comes we'll give everybody an opportunity to be seen and heard."

Buckley's songs are a part of the rights package; the producers optioned "Dream Brother: The Lives and Music of Jeff and Tim Buckley," by David Browne, as well. Apparently, the producers want whoever is playing Buckley to be able to play guitar and sing--and Pattinson can do both, hving written and played on songs which appeared on the Twilight soundtrack.

Non fans of Rob's who think he can do no right are as close minded as fans of Rob's who think he can do no wrong. I just go on the fact that he can sing, he can play, and he has done these most of his life. Jeff is a huge influence to Rob musically. Both are beautiful inside and out, making them similar in personality and looks. I was a Jeff fan before Rob's. I do not like Twilight, but do like Rob's other movies. The only other actor i like happens to be James Franco. Must be that these three have something in common!

I agree, and who better to play Jeff Buckley than a" true fan" like Robert Pattinson. I've heard many other names mention for this part. They may have heard of JB's music,but have they enjoyed hours of listening to JB's music and understanding the true depth of artist. Robert Pattinson has the musical background and vocals to deliver a great performance in this movie.

Robert would be magical in this part. Jeff has a special respect held by Rob, as he was a musical influence to him. They both are very soulful in voice and playing. Both have similar personalities, as they are gentle spirits. Both, lovely inside and out.
