And we thought she just plagiarized Madonna's "Express Yourself." This YouTube clip juxtaposes Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" and South Korean girl group Girls Generation/SNSD's "Be Happy"--and they sound almost exactly the same. SNSD's "Be Happy" was taken down two pitches for this comparison. Listen after the jump.
Release Dates:
"Born This Way" (single), released Feb. 11, 2011
"Be Happy" (from Oh! album), released Jan. 28, 2010

whatever, i just know that snsd is the best and if lady gaga really deliberately copied snsd's song, then she can go to helli admired lady gaga for her awesome talent and thought she was one of the originals but well, i guess thats not her then, but of coz if this article is false i'll will continue to admire lady gaga like before and will not change a single bit:)

I don't really hear the similarities? Honestly. And I love lady gaga and Iim a huge fan. Soo. This video doesn't phase me. They don't really sound a like to me. But for people that will argue if you listen to a lot of the songs on the radio today they ALL sound the same! I'm just saying...

I totally hate gaga she is just tryin to brainwash other people by for example when she said i was born this way  she is actually saying its alright to be lebianese homos because i was born  to be this and that you see just one  show can draw millions and millions and millions of people that came to her show she is confusing all those people that came to her shows so people please draw away from gaga

I used to like her in Fame Monster and was a fan, I just don't get this "new" gaga. I am really dissappointed that she had to copy madonna. there is nothing new about this song being a BLATANT RIP OFF and COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT on gaga's part. The fact that people are okay with this just speaks to the lack of originality. She has talent just lacks originality.

I guess Im just SICk of all the gimmicks and wierdness. I doubt she will have a career 5 years from now, there is only so many wierd outfits a person can wear till people are just tired and frankly I am the lil monster we ex monster that calls her out. She really dissappointed me and I refuse to buy a cd ONLY SHE says "is the album of the decade" knowing very well she didnt spend not one second on it.

She says she wrote the album for "the gays" then five seconds later for "Whitney Houston?!" but it sounds like Madonna . Madonna should have been the one thanked!..oh and Madonna's Publicist Blantly told CNN she never sent gaga any email.

Gaga if you want me as your fan again, get in the studio and produce real one of a kind music, not Madona rip offs!

She's a faggot with no talent, what else is new? Only her delusional gay fan base and stupid ass real housewives of ____ wannabes support her weak attempts at "creating" music. She's a dumb dike who's just trying to milk her stupid fans before they all fizzle out. Just like all pop music...

she is a fu*&#)ing HACK ! There is NOTHING original about her - all of you who think she is actually an original artist, are just simply not aware of the original work that she is ripping off, and that's what she is banking on, and that does not make her cool or worthy of any respect...

About time Koreans got a taste of their own medicine. If Girls Generation actually sues I'll laugh my ass off at the hypocrisy. I know because I live in Korea....everything is plagiarized.

If everyone searched popular Korean music, you'd realize they all sound like that electro-pop-auto-tuned crap. I'm sure you can take each song and find a similar one with very little effort.

Besides, if my sister (who is obsessed with both Lady Gaga and SNSD and listens to both songs religiously) didn't hear the similarities, I'm not convinced it's enough to make an uproar about. Remember, a lot of songs have the same beat/melody (look up "Four Chord Songs" by Axis of Awesome. Youtube it.)

And if this was a legal case, let's remember that the 9 girls in SNSD (yes, 9. Why do you need that many singers in one group? Because 7 of them can't actually sing.) don't write their own songs (they don't even sing live for heavens sake), so they wouldn't be getting any compensation for it. And Korean songwriters have gotten in trouble for copying other performers before (search Hyori's "Get Ya" compared to Britney Spears' "Do Somethin'"). If anything, I'd argue that the songwriter got his "inspiration" from Madonna. LoL.

I don't love Lady Gaga. I don't hate Koreans (I am Korean), I just think the Korean music industry has turned to crap in the last 10 years, and every song sounds the same nowadays.

That's all she's doing, turning pop hits into "new" age fag music.

come on people .....all lady gag is doing is taking a sheet right out of madona's play book. that might be good for prepubescent teens but i see adults fawn all over her. she has nothing to offer that hasnt been seen before.

They're similar, but since they're both using such a simple beat, it's unavoidable. You could probably find ten or twenty songs that came out before this Korean band's song with exactly the same synthesizer set up. If this is plagiarism, then the country music industry has produced nothing but plagiarism for the past twenty years.

Did she screw up, or her managers? Does anyone honestly think a singer/entertainer has time to create their own music? Rare. That why there are song writers/managers. She's a singer and entertainer now. But they usually take the flak from the uneducated public.

Besides, Korea? Now people have to test plagiarism from all over the world.

Favian Orozco
Favian Orozco

She's the uneducated one since she chose to sing and perform those stupid ass songs. I'm sure you could hire a trained monkey to do the same thing. I dont see why we should support some fake ass entertainer who doesn't have the "time to create their own music." If she doesn't have the time, then what is she doing singing on tv and being an overall media slut? You're the type that thinks music comes from clipping other people's vinyls or pushing a bunch of buttons on a drum pad, or that great music gets magicallly created because people are spoon fed talent shouldn't have to work for it and should release whatever load of crap they recorded before they took the month off to go party in NY with all the other drugged out queers.

yes comparing 2 songs by altering pitches can make them sound similar..why?...BECAUSE YOU HAD TO ALTER THE PITCH to make them simialr

Favian Orozco

That's also like me saying hey look guys, I made this cool new song by altering the super mario brothers theme song's pitch, it's not the same promise!

You're a lazy toolbag, keep supporting stupid ass artists, it's not like society wont suffer from it right?

This sounds like a while lot of shit I hear at the club. Hard to really say it's copied when all of this kind of music sounds so similar...

Jracicot

Holy crap they are melodically identical the group from Korea should be pursuing some form of compensation if in fact they were first to create this song.

when you use a default setting on the Korg Triton to compose your music for you, don't be surprised that other people own Korg Tritons and have also used a default setting to compose their music for them.

Favian Orozco
Favian Orozco

And if you're a "major" artist or just truly passionate, then it would make sense to be original and make sure your not playing on default settings.

JoeR

I don't listen to this kind of music, but I like Lady Gaga and I think she's a talented singer, writer and performer.

Ya, the songs sound similar and I can understand why this would upset people, but in the big picture, money out of the equation, who cares? It's music, it's meant to be enjoyed, now there are two songs you can enjoy listening to instead of one. And if you don't like it then ignore it.

Besides, with the amount of music being made today, this is bound to happen by accident, especially in like genres. Or maybe she did rip it off, the lyrics are still her own though.

Favian Orozco

That's like saying I painted a Mona Lisa replica and should be able to sell it for 2 million dollars even though I never took art classes or even have a clue as to what real technique and talent are. You and Lady Gagger are what's wrong with the world today.

I use to think Lady Gaga was another original who thought out of the box. After I heard this song on the radio, I thought of nothing but a desperate "artist" trying to outdo another famous artist who WAS an original, out-of-the-box singer.

Lady Gaga owes so many apologies to so many people after this song that it seems the list is starting to fill up. She not only stole "Express Yourself", but there are also clear elements of "Vogue" as well in the song.

Now this!.........

There is nothing "cool" about Gaga ripping off someone else's work. She's no real artist and I am no longer a fan.

I knew it might be all downhill for Gaga after her "presentation" of her raw meat couture at the 2010 MTV awards.
