Julian Marley playing at Ragga Muffins Festival Feb. 23, 2009
It's time again for the annualRagga Muffins Festival to take over Long Beach--and this year, the festival is dedicated to Bob Marleywho passed nearly 30 years ago (yes, it has been that long since the music legend left us). But this is no time for mourning! The Ragga Muffins Festival is a two-day reggae extravaganza featuring some of the finest musicians Jamaica has to offer. Find out how to win a pair of tickets to the first day on Saturday, Feb. 19 after the jump.
Saturday's smokin' lineup includes Bunny Wailer (an original member of the Wailers alongside Bob), Rebelution, Gyptian and Half Pint, while Sunday's roster boasts joints by Israel Vibration, Gentleman, I-Octane and Marcia Griffiths. Plus, with dozens of vendors selling wares and globally inspired munchies--at least four Jamaican eateries alone--the air is sure to be thick with good vibes and music all weekend long. (Erin Dewitt)

Three little birds . . . is my favorite song. I like it because the lyrics are simple and true. And when you listen to the music, the lyrics of the songactually make me feel better."don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright"Then I just feel alright too.Its true what bob says, when the music hits, you feel no pain!
"I shot the sheriff"....as a kid i had a keyboard with the instrumental to bob's song, and i made my own remixed version to the beat of i shot the sheriff. Everytime i hear that song it reminds me of being a kid with dreams of making music.
My favorite Bob Marley is No Women, No Cry.... What is not to love about that song? It tells you to push on through, don't forget your past... I hear this song and it makes me appreciate what I have. It may not be much, but it's something. Push on through and don't forget.. Deidra Prescott crzybeotchdee@aol.com
My favorite Bob Marley song is Stir It Up! It always puts me in a great mood and whenever I hear it I know its going to be a great day~So uplifting & refreshing! Anna Garcia ms.anna13@yahoo.comThank you!
"No woman no cry" has to be my favorite Bob Marley song. Bob Marleys voice is soo full of spirit and love and being a woman who's gone through my own series of painful situations, playing "No Woman No Cry" always makes me feel as though I'm personally being cradled in his arms and lulled into a realm in which only love and compassion exist. And it makes the world a brighter place again...
I love each and every one of Bob Marleys song but the one that i would have to pick as a favorite would be No woman, no cry. It was mine and my brothers favorite song, after he OD'd on heroin (it takes the best of them) it came on ALMOST every time i would be at the cemetary or when life knocked my ass down.. it was a nice picker upper . One love.Janine RojoDifferent_people@yahoo.com
WAITING IN VAIN, 5 years ago i was at a party listening to this song and dancing when the most beautiful girl i ever seen walked up to the dance floor. Long story short we started dancing and singing and we have been dating ever since and it is "OUR SONG" ! IT WOULD BE A PERFECT GIFT!NAME:ANDREW WALKERE-MAIL: avjw656@yahoo.com
"Sun is Shining"Every time I hear this song it brightens my day... The legend is gone, but his songs live on. A new song is made every day but few made music with the passion that Bob did.
"War" is one of my favorite Bob Marley songs. It's lyrics are almost entirely from a speech by Emperor Haile Selassie. The song calls for World Peace and remains a powerful message today.Cheryl Coulter - cherylleigh53@yahoo.com
One favorite? Well, my current favorite is "I'm Hurtin' Inside"....because though we all have pain, if met with optimism then it is much easier to overcome. And it WILL be overcome. "...and if it don't come I gotta go looking, for Happiness..."
