'Beavis and Butt-Head' Return to MTV This Year

Categories: cool shit
It's true. Creator Mike Judge's animated series is returning to MTV later this year. The network announced on Wednesay that Beavis and Butt-Head will return with all-new episodes after a 14-year hiatus. Judge will provide the voices for both characters. Exciting, right?

The show defined the grunge and alt-rock era as bands such as Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam were featured on the show. What will be featured now? Do we have that '90s grunge music anymore? Or will they be listening to that stupid indie shit? At least we know the characters will be socially inept and blowing something out of their asses. Even Justin Bieber (who hadn't even popped out of his mother's womb when the show first aired) is excited.

Bieber tweeted:

solid day in NYC. played hoops and just went to the MTV Upfronts...BEAVIS and BUTTHEAD are coming back!!!

That's so strange. I've never heard of a show coming back with new episodes after being "on hiatus" for 14 years. That has to be some sort of historical first in TV land, no? Me and my boyfriend had fun a few years ago watching a bunch of old B&B episodes and getting into the feel of that time period, remembering various videos, like, "oh yeah!! I remember that one!" It first aired in 1993, my senior year of high school. The world was so completely different back then. No internet, no social networking and instant 24/7 information. Clunky cell phones that only a smattering of people had, music stores still sold tape cassettes, along with CDs. No such thing as downloadable music. You wanted music you had to go to the store and buy it, and then make mix tapes or something. In the 90s it was Sony Discman with headphones. No such thing as ear buds or an iPod. Grunge was still going, and most of the good 90s alt rock bands were putting out new music that is now considered classic. And then you know that Facebook group called "When I was a kid we had to blow on the video games to get them to work"? Yeah. That. :D Super Mario Brothers all the way in your Super Nintendo! Beavis and Butthead in a post 2010's world....I don't know about that. They will always be highschoolers back in the 90s, in a simpler better world of grunge alt rock, Nintendo and no internet....
