Def Leppard Tribute Bands Feud Over One-Armed Drummer

Tribute bands are all about authenticity. From the wigs to the clothes to the gestures, tribute bands knows how to honor their heroes. But can some bands take it too far? We think so. According to NME, Dallas-based Def Leppard tribute band Pyromania have posted an ad on Stereogum seeking a one-armed drummer (as we all know, Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen lost his left arm in a car accident). Also in the ad, the band requests a true rhythm master--preferably with no prosthetics, a flame-"retardent kit" and a sober mind.

But the poster has stirred up some emotion for our own Huntington Beach-based tribute band, also named  Pyromania. They are disgusted by the ad, and they posted their thoughts on the matter on their website:
Seems there is a Def Leppard tribute band in Dallas who call themselves Pyromania and are looking for a one-armed drummer.

We wanted to set the record straight that we have nothing to do with this ad, and we are not looking for a drummer and feel it is in VERY BAD TASTE!! We have much respect for Rick Allen and Def Leppard, and we have a great love and honor for their music. Please do not confuse us with this [completely disgusting] and disrespectful behavior.

However, NME notes, the band display own drummer as having one arm on their website as well. All that can be said is that both bands need to know where to draw the line. Seriously.
