Huntington Beach-based Avenged Sevenfold suffered a loss in December 2009 when drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan passed away at age 28.

Now, just a little over a year later, Avenged Sevenfold has named Arin Ilejay (formerly of the now defunct "metalcore" band Confide) as their newest member via a statement posted on their official site. The band is about to embark on their next tour with Stonesour, Hollywood Undead and New Medicine, titled "Nightmare After Christmas."

We recently asked several friends who knew Jimmy and his style, and also knew our music and each of our personalities to suggest drummers to tour with us starting this year.

Our long time studio drum tech, Mike Fasano, recommended Arin Ilejay. We've rehearsed with Arin and have been impressed with his technical skills, attitude and work ethic. We're very excited to tour with Arin and hope all of you will give him the warm welcome to the family we have.

Thanks for your never ending support. It means the world to us.

See you on the Nightmare After Christmas.

Avenged Sevenfold and fans pay tribute to the Rev at their Jan. 20, 2011 show at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.

The Rev would be glad to know that the band is still touring and recording, and hopefully Arin can keep up with A7X's godly style of Metal.

lets see if he can keep up with the revs speed and he looks to damn young

just keep in mind that young is good, it is a hard spot to fill coming in behind the Rev and then Mike Portnoy from DT on the album finish.....I give major credit to this kid at 23 years old - doing what he does.... it can only get better from here. Remem the Rev was a kid too when they started out waaaay back in the beginning in high school.
