Maybe it's a rip-off of Kanye's brilliant idea, but Oklahoma City psych-rockers the Flaming Lips are releasing new songs each month with longtime producer Dave Fridmann, and you can hear the first one in January. Frontman Wayne Coyne announced to Rolling Stone that they will be spending time recording at their houses and document each song while in the process.

Since Embryonic, the band hasn't released another recording, and hardcore fans are excited to hear more. We all remember listening to the band cover Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety in 2009, and this year they will run through their 1999 classic The Soft Bulletin for the faithful in Oklahoma City this New Year's Eve. If we are lucky, all the music might be released on vinyl, so long-term fans can spin a platter of trippy goodness.
