R&B singer Teena Marie
, known as the "Ivory Queen of Soul," died this evening at the age 54 in her Los Angeles home. She was found by her daughter in her bedroom.
According to CNN
, her manager Mike Gardner has confirmed the tragic news.
At age 19, Matrie was signed to Motown Records and recorded with her mentor Rick James
. Her many hits included "Lovergirl," "Fire and Desire," and "I'm A Sucker For Your Love." She will be forever missed and always remembered as one of the first white artists to break into the funk/soul scene.The cause of death has not been reported yet--please stay tuned to as this sad story unfolds.
