  • At The Coach House Tuesday, Pete Yorn gave fans a taste of his new self-titled album that was released on the same day. The album was produced by Frank Black of the Pixies and has a more rock and roll sound than previous releases. [OC Register]

  • Voxhaul Broadcast's "Rotten Apples" is featured in the trailer for upcoming Life as we Know It starring Katherine Heigl and Josh Duhamel. It's not quite Gray's Anatomy, but we're sure Voxhaul is thrilled. [Everyday Noise]

  • Country act the Zac Brown Band pleased with their interpretations of Bob Dylan's "I Shall be Released," Charlie Daniel's "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," and Van Morrison's "In to the Mystic," as well as their own tunes at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on Sunday. A trifecta! [OCR]

  • Say goodbye to Huntington Beach's Moostache. Well, kind of. The Wardell Brothers (plus Scott Zschomler) announced that they are going a new direction with their music and have picked up a new moniker--Wardells. [From their Facebook page]

  • Long Beach's The Growlers opened for the Black Keys at two sold-out shows at the Palladium Monday and Tuesday. We found a bunch of reviews talking about the Black Keys, and Nicole Atkins, but nothing on the Growlers. Well, at least they weren't panned as badly as Nicole Atkins was. [LA Weekly]
