Owl City Thinks California Girls Are Undeniable
OC Weekly (Lilledeshan Bose): What's it like touring with John Mayer?
It's sorta like when you put on a fresh pair of sweatpants right after they come out of the dryer. It's inspiring, compelling, refreshing, gripping, spellbinding, and of course leg-warming, among other things.
Why Owl City? What does it mean?
There is a row of underground classrooms at my hometown high school and the "windows" in those rooms are at ground level. One Monday morning I was yawning my way through American Literature 101 and I happened to glance out the window to see a huge male deer blundering about outside the window.
What did you grow up listening to? What influenced you to be a musician?
I listened to a lot of Beach Boys. My dad was a postal worker and he and I used to ride around in his sweet mail truck and listen to The Monkeys, Herman's Hermits, The BeeGees, Alice Cooper, Credance Clearwater Revival, Megadeath, you name it. That stuff still inspires me today.
Have they been met or disproved? I remember having super high expectations regarding clam chowder. It's a bit odd but I have a fascination with the culinary delights of the given region I am in. A friend of mine had been to Southern California on a senior trip and had eaten a bowl of clam chowder in a bread bowl. He told me it was delicious so I expected nothing less. Upon arriving and tasting for myself, it indeed was delicious. I also really like the flora in Southern California. You guys have Birds of Paradise! Romantic little flowers, aren't they?
Yeah, I dated a girl from Southern California once and she was the most beautiful creature I'd ever laid eyes on. Blonde hair, blue eyes, skinny and super tan. She had this charming gaze that could look into your soul and retrieve all your deepest innermost secrets without warning. She was way out of my league and I was always nervous around her. She would just glance at me and I would go weak and almost faint. Everything about her was gorgeous and I felt like a sappy idiot.
