Could it have been this 45?
The Register reports that the Cypress Police Department received a suspicious package Monday, which led to a call to the Orange County Sheriff's Department bomb squad.

The dangerous package? "An old 45 single by The Carpenters, with a note asking police to find its original owner."  The old 45 was in a small box with unusual packaging, no return address, and uncancelled postage, which the U.S. Postal Service warns about.
It was apparently taken to the Police Department parking lot for examination--no further reports on what song was actually on the record.

(According to the story, Karen Carpenter's remains were at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cypress for 20 years, but were moved to a cemetery in Westlake Village in 2003, but her story lives on in various karaoke bars, a banned video and UCI professor's book.)
