Far East Movement, the Asian-American hip-hop outfit that Lady Gaga handpicked to open her Japan dates, will be in Irvine today, doing a meet and greet before their Galaxy show tonight, which we previewed in the print issue of OC Weekly.
Writer Paul Saitowitz said, "while a certain amount of cultural pride pulses through the group, their success isn't based on just appealing to other Asians."
The band will be at Lollicup Diamond Jamboree, 2700 Alton Parkway #119, Irvine, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. They'll also be passing out 50 percent off coupons for Lollicup with Wong Fu Productions, an Asian-American filmmaking group.
It's all part of a push by International Secret Agents concerts, which promote Asian-American artists. They'll be back in town on Sept. 5 with Far East Movement, Westminster's hometown kids Poreotix (Season 5 champions of America's Best Dance Crew) and Ryan Higa (aka NigaHiga), the all time most subscribed person on YouTube.
You probably don't realize how often you've heard Far East Movement at clubs before, but here's "Like a G6" to jog your memory.
