Tyondai Braxton performing with Battles at Lee's Palace in Toronto
Singer/guitarist Tyondai Braxton has left mathy, experimental rock band Battles. The announcement was made today on their record label, Warp.net.
It said:
Battles and Tyondai would like to let their fans know they have chosen to follow their own musical paths.
Due to Battles' ambitions of finishing their second studio album followed by commitments to a full touring schedule in 2011, and Tyondai's own commitments as a solo artist and his desire not to tour, both Battles and Tyondai have decided to move on without each other.
It is a sad but amicable split.
Battles wishes Tyondai all the best,
The band's second album is expected for release later this year.
And now, let's listen to "Atlas" 10 million times in a row, like we did in 2007.

this is good effin news - tyondai's shit ruined an amazing band by trying to pair his horrible interpretation of song structure with ian williams' wicked interpretation of math rock. braxton should've stuck to beat boxing rhythms like on fantasy (holy F that is an epic song).
mirrored is a huge disappointment compared to the EPs if only because of tyondai's horribly annoying vocals (you can't dispute this unless you happen to be a massive alvin and the Cs fan). hopefully we'll see more songs like snare hanger and race (out) on the new album and less songs like Ddiamondd.
