The much-maligned Ellen DeGeneres won't be back as a judge on American Idol after just one season on the show.

The LA Times wrote that DeGeneres "told the show's producers a couple of months ago that the show 'didn't feel like the right fit for me,' partly because of increased work commitments elsewhere, including her popular daytime talk show."

She also said "it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings."

Fox has not announced a replacement for DeGeneres, who was brought on for the ninth season as a replacement for Paula Abdul. The network hasn't announced a replacement for Simon Cowell either, who left AI  to work on his new reality show The X Factor (also on Fox.)
Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi remain.
