I hate Las Vegas--mostly because it's ostentatious and fake, but also because I'm too broke to gamble. So I try to avoid it like the plague. Except now, Matador Records just announced
that their 21st anniversary show will be held from October 1 to 3 at the Palms Casino & Resort--and Guided by Voices
are reuniting for it!
Seminal lo-fi masters Guided by Voices split up
in 2004. The Matador poster says the GBV reunion will have the
"classic" 1993-96 lineup, which probably means
guitarists Tobin Sprout and Mitch Mitchell will also be performing.
Pavement, Spoon, Harlem and the New Pornographers are also performing in the lineup that now includes 20-plus acts. Ticket prices, the full lineup and more artists will be announced on the Matablog
on July 5. Seems like I'm going to have to go on a road trip....
