We've spilled a good amount of digital ink on what a truly terrible ideaComic-Con International moving from San Diego to Anaheim (or Los Angeles) is, even if there are still about 3,000 people on Facebook who think otherwise. Luckily, our side has gotten some noteworthy support, as the vastly influential, albeit fictional, Comic Book Guy fromThe Simpsons added his take to the debate last week.
Video and info after the jump.
Sort of weird that The Simpsons was able to capitalize on this so quickly, when it's only been an issue for a couple of months--it's not like South Park, which has a famously quick turnaround for producing episodes. But the show usually has a healthy presence at Comic-Con, and Matt Groening is a regular attendee, so maybe they felt they just had to comment. Plus, that episode began with a bizarre intro featuring Simpsons characters lip-syncing "TiK ToK" by Ke$ha, so really, who knows what's going on over there. (Insert obligatory "The Simpsons hasn't been funny since _______" lament here.)
Either way, it's nice to have the Comic Book Guy on our side, even if he isn't exactly known for making the best decisions (he did get it on with Principal Skinner's mom, after all). The "Bring Comic-Con International to Anaheim, CA" folks even noted the line on their Facebook, breaking out the always expressive sideways smiley face: "Did anyone else watch The Simpsons last night? Good news: the debate has hit the mainstream. Bad news: Anaheim doesn't make Comic Book Guy very jolly. :/"
Thanks to commenter Rachel for pointing this out to us, and noted comic book culture blog The Beat for handily providing the trimmed clip. We would have probably seen it ourselves, but, y'know. (Insert additional obligatory "The Simpsons hasn't been funny since _______"
lament here.)

This Disneyisunfaithful guy is an idiotic union hack spewing lies about the contract negotiations going on at Disneyland. The socialist union, Unite HERE, have held their members hostage without allowing them to vote on any contract that Disney has sent them for over 2 years now.
Disney is offering pay increases for each year and no other cut in benefits or adjustments from full time to part time like this idiot claims. For one thing, there are only so many full time, part time and seasonal positions to fill in the 3 hotels regardless of what the union tries to negotiate. So, there are no cuts there for full time positions.
The dispute is that HERE is the only union out of 31 unions at the Disneyland Resort that doesn't require their members to pay any part of their medical benefits. Disney provides some of the most generous medical benefits in the industry, but depending on what plan an employee choses will determine if there are any out-of-pocket expenses. HERE union takes Disney's money and "provides" medical benefits for free to their members. Yet, that union is broke and cannot provide a strike fund for their members. Sorry, but if the other 30 unions on property all play by the same rules, there is no reason why this last union cannot play by the same rules as well.
Disney is trying to be fair. They should have fired all of these employees long ago and started over in hiring people who really want to work for competitive wages in the service industry and nice medical benefits and perks. Sadly, most of the members of that socialist union don't agree with the union tactics but have no recourse to do anything about it or are not smart enough to know they can vote the union out.
So, there's the truth. Don't listen to this union hack spew his lies. Disney is not being unfaithful to its employees.

If Comic-Con goes to Anaheim we can see Mickey and Snow white get arrested!

Disneyland hotel workers contacted the Comic-Con International Board to tell them about the labor dispute in Anaheim.
You may have heard that Disneyland hotel workers have been engaged in a bitter 2-year fight against Disney over increased health insurance payments and turning some full-time jobs into part-time positions without benefits.
There is no end in sight to this dispute. If Comic-Con chooses to move to Anaheim, it could find itself caught in the middle of a bitter labor dispute that could jeopardize its success.
Workers have been involved in the following actions:
*7 day and 3 day water-only hunger strikes in February 2010. Disney hotel workers camped on the sidewalks in front of the Disneyland hotels and Disneys Burbank offices. Daily actions involved elected officials, community leaders, and musicians, including Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine.
*Two work stoppages, in which dozens of workers walked off the job
*Numerous picket lines and protests, happening as early as 6AM, some of which have shut down entrances to the park, closed streets, including one in which 32 people were arrested.
