After 11 years on Epic, we just got word that Fullerton natives Social Distortion have moved on to Epitaph Records. They're also planning to release their first studio album since 2004 late this year.

The press release quotes Mike Ness: "We feel that Epitaph has a natural understanding of Social Distortion; both the history of the band and the direction we want to go."

He added, "We considered a lot of options, but in the end, Epitaph feels like the right home for us. We're looking forward to taking this step forward, opening some new doors with this upcoming album and this next chapter of Social Distortion."

Apparently, the band started recording in Burbank in March to record their as-of-now-untitled  album, which would be their seventh. We heard it had a lot of analog elements -- tape, compressors and microphones, which sounds pretty intriguing. We'll keep updating Heard Mentality on more news from Social D as we hear back from their people.
