Summer And Music Returns to Long Beach On June 12

It's the last full week of May, and summer concert season is almost upon us. Surveyors of the Long Beach music scene will be happy to know that the Downtown Long Beach Association's popular Summer and Music series will be kicking off in a couple weeks, featuring performances from Deep Sea Diver and several other great bands from the LBC.

We've already heard rumblings about this year's local music bonanza--voted Best Music Festival in the Weekly's 2009's Best of Orange County edition.

The series, staged at various locations in Downtown Long Beach from June to August, will feature 13 music events and 64 bands--including a Busker Festival, Battle of the Tribute Bands and the much-lauded Funk Fest.

With the support of it's founders Justin Hectus (also founder of Long Beach event Schooled In Song) and Rand Foster (owner of Fingerprints Records) SAM is all about bringing hand-picked local talent to your attention. The first event kicks off on June 12 with a performance showcase called Future Legends featuring Deep Sea Diver, Jay Buchanan, Korey Dane, So Many Wizards and Boris Smile in the East Village of Downtown Long Beach.
