When Rooney came out with their debut in 2003, the pretty-boy set was everywhere, trumpeting out ditties like "I'm Shakin'" with such ear-wormy hooks that you couldn't turn around without hearing the band's music on movie soundtracks, The OC episodes and KROQ. Now that they're all grown up, with their very own record label and a brand-spankin' new album, you can check out their "free from the shackles of Corporate America" music after the jump.
Last year, Rooney was dropped by their major label Geffen. The band subsequently hurried up and recorded an EP and a bunch of new songs, which has turned into the independently-released "Eureka." It drops June 8 on the band's own California Dreaming Records-just in time for us to catch their show at the House of Blues in Anaheim on June 17.
Anyway, if you can't remember that Rooney has Jason Schwartzman's brother in it (Robert, aka Robert Carmine), and that he was on The Princess Diaries, we have free music to jog your memory. Click here to download the lead track off Eureka, "I Don't Wanna Lose You.".
