Ready to fight the power? It's a throw down between Obey Records and the Feds, as local DJs will be spinning for a cause on Friday, May 21 at the Crosby in Santa Ana. The record label is throwing a benefit show for Justin McNulty, aka Kutmah, one of LA's most well-respected DJs. His tale is one of bureaucratic snafus and legal hardship.

As a resident of the United States for over 20 years, McNulty considers Los Angeles his home. He's a citizen of the UK who moved to California with his mother at the age of 12, but has been repeatedly denied a green card. He was recently detained by immigration agents and placed in a federal holding facility in New Mexico. The benefit is seeking to raise money for his legal battle to prevent deportation. Some of the artists scheduled to perform include: RasG, Teebs, Roam and Coleman.

In support of Kutmah, you can donate at the website: www.freekutmah.com. Each $40 donation earns the donor a "Free Kutmah" T-shirt and button. Every cent of the proceeds will go toward McNulty's legal defense.

The event is free to enter, but they will be selling shirts emblazoned with artwork by Kutmah himself.

Proceeds from the bar will also go to the defense fund. So, bring your wallets and dancing shoes to the Crosby for a party with a purpose.
