Steve Miller to Headline Cal State Front & Center 2010

Steve Miller wowed people with his blues guitar chops in the 1960s. In the 1970s, he created a distinctively likable style of pop rock that produced smashes like "The Joker," "Take the Money and Run," "Rock 'N Me" and "Fly Like an eagle." Chances are, you have heard these songs.

You probably know his early 1980s hit "Abracadabra," as well. After that, Miller had a few more songs on the radio including the title track to his 1993 "comeback" album Wide River -- and then nothing. But people don't attend a Steve Miller to discover new material. They go for big, fun sing alongs with surely a couple joints passed around for when it comes time for everyone to celebrate the original "midnight toker."

But wait, this show has a master of ceremonies, table seating and will include "performers from the university's College of the Arts." Er, yeah, better leave the stash at home and read about this event before buying that $100 ticket with high hopes of attending a rock party.

Steve Miller Band, Saturday, February 20, Honda Center, Anaheim, $45-$100.
