MTV Chooses Huntington Beach for Next Season of Real World?

• Please, please, MTV just go away. What was once a semi-sleepy, middle class surf town, is now a barrage of crap from the 909, 951, 626, and the occasional 818 girl who wants to marry "rich" and live in the Bluffs. Please just go back to where you came from....Le Dirt. Let me die in peace knowing another bimbo won't die her hair BLACK!

• Huntington Beach is nicknamed "Surf City", hell the Beach Boys even wrote a song about it. But that was obviously in the 60s and things were probably really nice then. They should change the nickname and find a new spokesperson. Eminem should sing a song called "White Trash Tattooed Huge Truck Driving, Backwards Fitted Cap, Bud Lite Drinking, Leave Their Trash All Over the Sidewalk, Trashy Bleach Blonde Girlfriend, Cigarette Smoking, Limp Bizkit Wannabe Shithead City", because that's what HB has turned into. It's really quite sad. Trust me, I own a house here and I see it all the time. Oh, and the surf here is pretty mediocre too, the name Surf City is purely for marketing. Especially since I found out years ago how much raw sewage is dumped DIRECTLY into the beach water. Yeah, go Surf City.

• Why does HB need a geto bird.... oh, never mind Hunington should be a great place, not only to visist, but to live here too. unfortunately to much negativity overshadows the potential HB could be... or was suppose to be. MTV could be good or it could be bad for HB This could put much much much need support for progress in HB... • It's not that big of a deal. Most people who've grown up in Huntington avoid Main street at all costs. The place is crawling with Real World hopefulls. It seems natural. I'd prefer Real World: Santa Ana, Garden Grove or Little Saigon, people forget that these place are part of "The O.C." Let's see the kids swarms a Pho 99 on a Friday night. Or Alerto's drive thru. Even Real World: Sunset Beach would be more interesting a city with no schools and countless tattoo and message parlors and bars now that sounds like a show. I don't understand how this is upsetting. It hasn't been the same place we grew up, the same place were my dad grew up for a while now and it never will be. Are people claiming that there are different levels of selling out? It would suck to be an actual local, like living on one of the numbered streets local. I get that. If this goes through you guys are screwed, for little bit. • I've lived in HB for almost 30 years (Surf Theatre and Golden Bear were still here) and lived down on the numbers, so I remember when it was cool downtown and everyone, young and old, could go chill, hang out and have a really great time.
