Gettin' Made: Learning Some New Tricks
Recently at the Long Beach Craft Mafia Halloween party, a gal showed up with a costume that really stood out from the crowd.
|Look out, Sabre the Super Crafty Crafter is here to show you a thing or two!|
After the jump, details on some of the great things you can learn from this very crafty (and trashy!) gal.
The Annex is located in the space formerly occupied by Patchwork co-organizer Nicole Stevenson's the Craft Kitchen. Upcoming classes include this Thursday's Beading Basics (from 6-8pm). Sabre shares, "It's an all encompassing intro to beaded jewelry, the tools, the tricks and the findings (those little metal things you need). Learn the fundamentals to making necklaces, earrings, and bracelets and wear them right out of the store." With registration required 48 hours in advance, you best sign up TODAY if you're interested in participating.
Along with their assorted monthly selection of craft workshops, The Annex (disclosure alert! Delilah Snell, The Road Less Traveled's owner, is significantly othered with OC Weekly's own Gustavo Arellano) hosts regular montly get-togethers including "Mommy and Me" every Friday from 11 a.m.-noon, and a Baby Rocks Disco class on the last Friday of the month from 11 a.m.-noon which, as Sabre describes it, is an event at which "moms and tots can boogie down together to a cool funky playlist that is baby friendly and mom jiggy approved."
What's possibly most exciting is their upcoming "Buy Nothing Day" on Black Friday (Nov. 27 noon-4 p.m.). The Annex will be hosting a barter-only, no cash/no cards event where folks can bring things to trade with other folks--it's the best way to regift that... interesting... sweater that Aunt Mabel sent you last year without her ever finding out.
The Annex is located next door to The Road Less Traveled at 2204 North Main Street in Santa Ana. Visit the website for a full list of upcoming workshops and call (714) 836-8727 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to register.
Don't forget to stop in at The Annex for free workshops during the Patchwork craft fair on Nov. 15 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Visit the Patchwork website for more information.
