New Music: LD and Ariano produced by DJ Babu (Dilated Peoples)

​Last time we checked in with rap/DJ duo LD and Ariano, they were still hard at work shopping their second full length album Color of the Music. As far as we can tell (by checking out their website) it looks like it has yet to find a home, which might be a little frustrating for those who've anticipated the release since we wrote about them last November.

Although to their credit, one thing that the Huntington Beach founders of hip hop collective Technicali Sound do very well is put out singles. Case and point: the two new tracks currently streaming on their MySpace page produced by DJ Babu of Dilated Peoples. Bolstered by Ariano's sing song hooks and heavy hitting delivery, the songs promise a step forward in their quest to merge club banger with conscious anthem.

You can definitely hear the quality in Babu's craft, which pretty much goes without saying as a member of the Beat Junkies and underground legends Dilated Peoples (alongside Rakaa Iriscience and Evidence). And then there's LD, local record-cutting extraordinaire whose savvy, eclectic style turns up in abundance on these tracks. But of course, all the hype in the world won't prove anything until you listen. So we suggest you do that. Tell us what you think. First up, the piano laced track "Something in the Air."
