Help the Jakes Get In a Video Game

Newport Beach's the Jakes have had all sorts of neat things happen to them so far in their relatively young career--opening up for Kings of Leon, getting on The Real World, airplay on KROQ's Locals Only, making the OC Music Awards "Best Live Band" finals--but they haven't been in a video game. Yet.

That could all very well change soon, though. Their song "Shake My Hand," the title track from their EP of the same name (the same EP that the Jakes are giving away for free online here and tonight at their show at the Yost in Santa Ana, where they go on at 10 p.m.) has been selected as one of 16 finalists for potential incusion in upcoming baseball game MLB 2K10, which sounds like a serial number or someone's e-mail password. The judges were selected by Spin magazine editor Doug Brod and the Hold Steady's Craig Finn, so that's pretty high praise by itself. To help them along their way to digital immortality, vote for them here, though they're currenly being lapped by triplet juggernauts "No Dialogue" by Slothbear (good band name), "How We Treat Girls" by Oak is Keeping and "It's the Blues" by Hotel St. George, who all have 28% each.

Also, it looks like keyboard player Ehson Hashemian has left the group; he's not listed on their MySpace anymore. I'll find out what's going with all that and update soon.
