Here at the OC Weekly, we're rather big fans of KUCI, UC Irvine's community radio station. So it's a no-brainer to suggest checking out their first ever "KUCI Nights," tonight at the Yost Theatre in Santa Ana.

It's five bands, all from southern California: LA's Castledoor and Death to Anders, and OC's the Living Suns (pictured), the Shys and Moostache. We've written lovingly about all three of the latter bands, what with Nate Jackson talking to the Living Suns here, Shawn Smith's 2007 article on the Shys, and my general gushing over Moostache's EP in a recent-ish Locals Only. The show was put together by the ever-effervescent Ashley Eliot, host of the station's Press Pass Music show that happens noon-2 p.m. on Thursdays (which has featured lots of local bands, and myself, in the past). The plan is to keep the KUCI Nights going at the Yost on the fourth Thursday of each month.

Other than music, there will also be giveaways from Volcom Entertainment, and ice cream from Ben and Jerry's, in case you needed that extra push to motivate you. $8, starts at 8 p.m. All ages, yo.
