'Heard Mentality': Definitely Not Going to SXSW

A lot of people are packing up and headed to Austin, Texas as we speak, but none of us here at OC Weekly are among then. I know, sad, right? I've never even been to Texas. I'm not even sure it exists.

Music programming starts tomorrow, and in case you're wondering who from this area is playing the event, check out this fine piece here. Those are just "official" showcases listed on SXSW.com, though; plenty more local acts, like Will Crum and Twentyfour64 will be there as well. Oh, and I also left out The Shys, because on SXSW's site, they're listed as being from Los Angeles.

Plenty of my fellow music editors are going to Austin, and I'll keep an eye on their coverage and throw up a link whenever something relevant comes up. Like the Village Voice Media showcase, which includes Crystal Antlers (as well as M. Ward, Cursive and Gomez), and takes place midday Friday. Let's live vicariously together!
